I’m not sure where to start with this couple. I first met Jessica over a year ago; she was always happy and perky. I’ve spent a lot of time with them over the last year. I’ve had a lot of ideas, and they've been open to trying new things. In fact I’ve done a lot of firsts with them.
We did engagement pictures two or three days before Christmas. We went down town Omaha, Old Market, Gallery Walk, and the Gene Leahy Mall. I wanted to do that because of the Christmas lights, but I know it’s also cold and dark. Jessica and Nelson were real troopers about the whole thing. I think we got some beautiful images that night.
After Christmas we did some studio images. They really liked the engagement images that I did previously. Again, it was so enjoyable. Finally this summer, we did a “trash the dress” session in my pool. That was something I’ve trying to do for awhile now. They have been real troopers about all the new things I’ve wanted to try.
The wedding day started off as grey and overcast outside. On the inside, things moved fast and smooth. The wedding went on without any problems. After the wedding, the sun came, and it turned out to be a beautiful day after all. One of my favorite images was of the bride with the white background. I learned how to do this from the Gary Fong class that I took this spring. It takes under five minutes to get it set-up and to take them.
After the wedding, we went to Elmwood Park next to University Of Nebraska Omaha. These were just enjoyable images, and I even did some infrared images at the park. The reception also had some firsts for me. This was the first time that I had a larger image of the couple at the reception. The image was a collage of four images of the couple and one of just the bride in my pool.
I enjoy photographing weeding, but sometimes I feel miserable that it’s over and that I may not see the couple again. I hope they stay in touch.
